Guy Carpenter Asia-Pacific Climate Impact Centre Publishes New Annual Report

gcacic_advThe report, covering the Centre’s activities during 2016, is divided into five sections.

1. Climate variability of winter monsoon affecting East Asia, including an extreme cold midwinter event, the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) effect and characteristics of the East Asian trough;

2. Studies related to heavy precipitation and drought problems in China;

3. Studies examining the relationship between ENSO and tropical cyclone landfalling activity in South China and the seasonal forecast of that activity using a dynamical model;

4. A study investigating the effect of urbanization on precipitation; and

5. Studies related to development of algorithm and error analysis for air sensors and measurement of black carbon and aerosol chemical compositions, as well as air pollution modelling studies related to traffic-related pollutant removal from street canyon with trees, impact of southeast biomass burning on Hong Kong air quality and application of GPS data to mobile estimates.
