Marsh & McLennan has announced that Michael Sevi has been appointed General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Guy Carpenter effective immediately. Mr. Sevi succeeds Michael Borik, who has served as the General Counsel of Guy Carpenter for the past four years, and will be moving into a joint business and legal role as Managing Director and Chief Counsel of Guy Carpenter’s Global Capital Solutions Group.
In his new role, Mr. Sevi will report to Peter Hearn, President and CEO of Guy Carpenter, and Peter J. Beshar, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Marsh & McLennan, and serve on both the Executive Committee of Guy Carpenter and the Senior Leadership Team of the Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs Department.
“Michael’s knowledge of the reinsurance industry, public and private sector experience and track record of delving into our most complex issues make him the ideal legal and compliance leader for Guy Carpenter,” said Mr. Hearn.
Mr. Sevi joined Marsh & McLennan in 2014 as a Senior Compliance Officer for Marsh. Throughout the past five years, he has served in roles of increasing responsibility, most recently as Chief Compliance Officer of Guy Carpenter and Deputy Chief Compliance Officer of Marsh & McLennan.
Before joining Marsh & McLennan, Mr. Sevi was a litigation associate at Hogan Lovells and DLA Piper. He also worked as the Director of Cabinet Affairs for Governor Rick Scott of Florida, serving as the Governor’s senior policy adviser on insurance, financial regulation and taxation. He graduated from Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School.
